Where is EBCI located?

EBCI is located in the centre of the island, in Quatre-Bornes. It is 18 km (ten miles) south of the capital, Port Louis. It is easily accessible from the major roads and it offers a spectacular view over the popular City of Flowers, Quatre-Bornes. Please click here to see our location.

What to study at EBCI?

EBCI offers and will offer courses mainly in IT and Business at certificate, diploma, advanced diploma, professional graduate diploma, undergraduate and postgraduate level. The awarding bodies for these courses are and the University of London to teach degree programmes academically led by LSE.


Do you hold classes in other regions?

Currently, EBCI is situated in Quatre Bornes where all of its classes are held. However, it intends to expand and in the near future, it aims to have a few strategically situated locations where classes will be held which are more convenient for students.


What are the different courses offered and what are the entry requirements?

Are the qualifications recognized?

Both University of London and BCS are recognised and accredited.

The University of London is a federal organization of the British Government whilst the British Computer Society (BCS), the chartered institute of IT, is a well known UK organisation.


Are there scholarships?

As part of its CSR plan, EBCI will offer scholarships to needy students who wish to pursue tertiary education and get international exposure.

How much are the tuition fees?

The tuition fees at EBCI are consistently less expensive than in the USA, UK and Australia. The tuition fees are as from US $ 2,000. For more information, kindly contact our office.


What is the cost of living?

Estimated cost of living (including accommodation, food and pocket money) - US $275 per month.


Is there any special support for international students?

The International Student Services provide the following support services: visa assistance, academic support and guidance, counseling service, accommodation and student activities.


What are the procedures to study at a Mauritian Tertiary Education Institution?

The foreign student has to do the following:

  1. The student must 1st secure a seat in a higher- education institution recognised by TEC
  2. She/he needs to have applied for a visa by submitting all required information
  3. On arriving in Mauritius, the student, must immediately enrol with both the administrative and academic departments of the institution where she/he is going to be studying
  4. Apply to NTA for free transport.


As an international student, documents to be submitted for student visa?

  1. Application to enter Mauritius, duly filled in and signed by the applicant
  2. Two recent passport size photographs of the applicant
  3. Photocopy of the bio-data pages of the passport of the applicant
  4. Original letter of admission in a recognized educational establishment
  5. Details of duration of the course and confirmation from the TEC
  6. Documentary evidence of availability of funds or financial capacity to meet costs of study and stay in Mauritius
  7. A medical certificate certifying that the applicant is not suffering from any contagious or infectious disease.


What kind of medical test is required for international students?

A test for HIV, Hepatitis B and a chest X ray should be done at any private medical laboratory/clinic/hospital in Mauritius and the tests results and Chest X ray report should be submitted to the Passport and Immigration Office not later than one month after arrival.


Can I be accompanied by dependant/s?

You can be accompanied by dependants. (More information to be provided by PIO)


What kind of housing is available to foreign students?

There are housing opportunities off campus. There is a variety of apartments, guesthouses, bedrooms and houses to accommodate students.


What will the weather be like?

Mauritius has a tropical climate with temperature varying from 15o C to 34o C. Being in the southern hemisphere Mauritius's summer starts in November and winter in June.


How do I open a bank account?

To open a bank account, the following documents will be required:

  1. Proof of Identity (such as National Identity Card or a valid passport)
  2. Proof of address (a copy of your latest utility bill or copy of lease agreement)*
  3. Letter confirming that you are an EBCI student

* If utility bill is in name of another person, relationship needs to be clearly established with the appropriate documents:

  1. Birth Certificate OR
  2. Marriage Certificate

The amount which you need to have in order to open a bank account varies depending on bank criteria.


Who can I contact with more questions?

The International Student Services is the main point of contact for a wide variety of services students may require during their studies at EBCI. International students in need of any assistance or having queries should direct themselves to the International Student Services which operate to serve the interests, needs and concern of students.


Does EBCI offer English courses for non native speakers?

EBCI can cater for English courses depending on the number of students or it can direct students to other institutions. Students will have to pay an additional fee for the English course. It is not included as part of the tuition fees.


Who can use EBCI library?

First and foremost, EBCI library services are meant for current students, faculty members, staff and researchers who hold valid EBCI IDs. Policies on admittance and borrowing, hours, and services vary. For more information about EBCI library rules and regulations, please consult our librarian.


When are the intakes for EBCI?

Depending on the programme chosen, the date of the intake will vary. Kindly contact our Academic Department for precise information.


Is Orientation Week compulsory?

It is a requirement that freshman attend the Orientation Week. O-Week combines social and academic activities designed to introduce newcomers to student life on campus.
